“Consider the work of God, for who is able to straighten what He has bent? In the day of prosperity be happy, but in the day of adversity consider- God has made the one as well as the other.” (Eccl. 7:13-14)
Facing the tough times in our economy and the overall sense of fear filling the latest newscasts, magazines, and newspapers can be quite disheartening. Let the body of Christ take the advice of Solomon, “Consider.” Take some time to reflect over what this recession has shown us as a nation and you individually. Has it not challenged all of us to put more faith and trust in the Lord? Hasn’t it revealed that some of us put more trust in the future provision of our 401(k), pension, or portfolio than we do of our Father in heaven? Solomon said, “Consider- God has made the one as well as the other.” Our God is still in control, He still knows what He is doing, He is still working out His sovereign will, but remember God has created this day of adversity. Reflect upon this statement. God has created this day of adversity. Why? What is He showing our nation? What is He showing you?
